GPS Maps

We are happy to announce that the GPS files are now available for the general public.

Files Last Updated: 8/8/2023.

We do not charge for the use of these files. We ask that a voluntary donation be made at the secure Catskills Hatzalah website linked below. Please select “Catskills Hatzalah” when donating. The money raised will be used to cover costs of putting GPS equipment into our ambulances. This will enable us to respond faster in case of an emergency Chas V’Shalom.

  • Introductory notes

The intention of this project was to allow those who respond to Medical Emergencies in the Catskills to utilize GPS to save time and get there safely.

This service contains information for a selection of over 950 summer locations in the NY Catskills and surrounding regions.

To view all of the current colony points on Google Maps in a new window, click here. Due to the amount of points being generated, please be patient as this may take a few minutes to load. You can now obtain driving directions by clicking on the point in the map.

To view all the hospitals on Google Maps in a new window click here.

The points listed in the files below were obtained by driving to each Camp and Colony on the Chevra Hatzalah Catskills Map (2007-2008 Edition).

The data was cross-referenced using a number of methods including the use of satellite imagery, where available.

Care was taken, where possible, to map the points from within the parking lot of the location. This was done to ensure location accuracy including marking the correct side of the road. Keep in mind, there are instances where the location may appear on the wrong side of the road. This was caused by a number of factors, including restricted access to site locations before the summer as well as sensitivity of the navigation equipment that was used. Should anyone come across such locations we would appreciate being notified so that we can correct it.

We have updated the Garmin and Magellan files to show the road and town of the location for a large number of points.

You are strongly urged to verify each location in advance before traveling there.

To the best of our knowledge, there is currently no way to upload points into built-in (OEM) GPS systems. If someone has information to the contrary, we would appreciate if they forwarded it on to us.

As we are still working on achieving our goal of 100% coverage please check back regularly to obtain the latest updated files.

Now includes a number of locations in upstate Greene County, NY

Now includes the official list of the Ellenville Fire District Medevac Landing Zones

We would like to publicly thank all those members (and their co-pilots) who voluntarily spent their own money on gas and took the time to drive the mountains, LiToieles HaRabbim.

  • Compatibility

While we have provided instructions for many devices, today there are too many devices to explicitly support.

Most devices that support Custom Points of Interest will be able upload the Hatzalah map.

You can go to the following website to try and create a file that is compatible with your GPS. This site is provided for your benefit but is not supported by Hatzalah in any way.

GPS Manufacturers also generally provide information in the manual that comes with the device.

  • Using the Catskills Summer Camps and Colonies Information on Your GPS

The exact way you access the Summer Camps and Colonies information varies depending on your device. For some devices, there is an option in the menu system for "Extras" -> "Custom POIs", which will then display a list of all the Camp and Colonies that are near you. Clicking on any Camp or Colonies name will display its full information, and you can then click to have the GPS direct you to that location. Most devices will allow you to search on any part of a name. It might be easier to remove the word Camp or Yeshiva and search for the rest of the name. This may work better at limiting the available choices.

A special thank you to Dr. Yosi Fishkin of http://www.GoDaven.com for allowing us to use his directions for loading the GPS.
